Petzl Tikka LED Headlamp

Dana:
Backpacker's Editors Choice Award for 2001. Need I say more? I agree with Christopher's review of this great hiking accessory. I purchased one for him, and loved it so much my wife purchased two for us as a Christmas present. It is lightweight, convenient and shines a beam that is suitable for camp tasks as well as hiking in the dark.

Upside:
Small and light. Bright beam is multi-functional. Low LED power consumption gives the batteries and the diodes long life. Hands free light! No more flashlight in the mouth while cooking!

Downside:
Can't adjust beam, although it does a great job of lighting the trail AND providing task lighting.

Christopher:
Why buy all your gear when you can get your friends to buy it for you. Dana bought me this headlamp as a thank you gift for being one of his best men at his wedding. I have to admit that when I first got it, it wasn't exactly what I had in mind. But I have since then changed my mind. This is a great little headlamp. It's small, lightweight and the three LED lights burn bright and long.

Upside:
Runs on three "AAA" batteries; small design fits easily over or under a hat; easily adjustable, comfortable strap will fit anyone.

Downside:
Beam is not adjustable; has a tendency to blind your hiking partners when you look at them.
