Kelty Gale
Jeff:
One of Kelty's "Storm Series" packs, I love this 3500cu because of it's sleak design. There are no frivolous straps or pockets that some backpacks get carried away with. It's very lightweight, yet will carry pretty heavy loads with comfort and ease. The lid is very expandable. The waist belt and shoulder straps adjust to fit a wide variety of body types. Only two mesh compartments, one on either side. No zippered pockets or pouches aside from the inner zipper pocket and the lid. This works out perfectly for me because I try to hike with as little stuff as possible. However, this pack might not be the best for those of you who like to bring everything but the kitchen sink.
Upside:
- Very colorful pack. Mine is bright red. This protects you from being mistaken for a deer or bear by overzealous hunters when you're hiking in the Fall.
- Very functional, yet very clean design. Does not waste space or provide too many pockets, zippers, pouches, or straps.
Downside:
- This pack might be too small for tall guys over 6'2", but it fits medium sized guys and taller sized women very well.
- Does not provide too many pockets, zippers, pouches, or straps.
