Nike ACG Sandals
Christopher:
This was a piece of gear I fell into, sorta. I originally purchased that sandals for general use and had no intention of ever using them for backpacking. Little did I know at the time they are great footwear for around the campsite and during river crossings. I discovered this quite by accident when I brought them along in case my new boots gave me trouble since I hadn't had enough time to break them in. I never officially needed them on that hike but I have carried them with me ever since. The sandals I own are an older version that features neoprene webbing with leather accents and a drawstring and buckle for adjustment.
Upside:
The neoprene straps and webbing dry quickly and do not rub or create hot spots.
Downside:
The rather wide design of the front allows your foot to slip forward; the drawstring and buckle adjustment does not stay tight, allowing the shoe to come off fairly easy; mine are about worn out and I can't find a new pair I like as much.
