Until I purchased two of these bottles/water purification systems, I had either been carrying all the drinking water I would need or using water purification tablets. Lugging around over a gallon of water on some hikes got old real fast and having to wait over 30 minutes for the tablets to work meant the cold mountain water wasn't so cold by the time I could drink it.

Upside:

Because the water runs through the purified as you drink it, it takes no time at all to fill up and go.

Downside:

It is difficult and time consuming trying to fill up any other bottles with it.
