Therm-a-Rest Explorer

This is one of the cheaper Thermarest pads. It's self inflatable, although I usually give it a few good blows to get it started. It sells brand new for approximately $49. It has worked very well for me. I started out with a standard egg carton foam pad, but the Thermarest is a quantum step up in terms of comfort and temperature control. The ground saps body heat, and the foam pad did little to offset this phenomenon. The sleeping pad gives you another layer between you and the ground.
