Coleman Peak 1 Garibaldi
Jeff:
I wanted a sleeping bag for all seasons. I don't plan on doing any snow or winter hikes, so I figured a bag that was good down to 15 degrees would be acceptable. I did quite a bit of searching because I wanted to find the best possible deal. I ended up with the Coleman Peak 1 Garibaldi because it met all of my needs: fairly inexpensive, fairly lightweight, and came with a stuff sack. I can't emphasize how important a stuff sack is. Before I stumbled across stuff sacks, I would actually roll up my bag and secure it with cinch straps. I think back on it now and think, "what a dork I was!"
Upside:
Box shape allows for twisting and turning during the night.
Drawstring along hood allows you to transform this bag into a "true" mummy bag.
Downside:
Complicated zipper system. If you totally unzip the bag, you might have a hard time getting them threaded again.
